Thank God It’s Friday’s Design Inspiration #1

The very first edition of our ‘Thank God It’s Friday’- Design Inspiration, a.k.a. TGIFI #1, a pin-up board for anything and everything. On the first Friday of every month I will post all kinds of beautiful and interesting designs that I have come across on the internet.

As a web designer you spent a lot of your time behind computer screens. This time is not only used for combining random pixels to create a website or to discover new ways to navigate a website on your phone.
As a web designer you need inspiration, so that’s what you’re looking for: searching for cool websites, seeking out the newest trends, trying to find beautiful font pairings, testing new javascript frameworks, reading useful articles and admiring the work of others. Whatever you can think of, the internet has it (somewhere between all of the cat video’s). The internet is a bottomless pit, a great place to learn and above all a place to continue dreaming.

Things besides websites and fonts

The best part of all of this is that while you scour the pages of the web for inspiration, you´ll find a lot more beautiful and cool things besides websites and fonts. How about the astonishing architecture of MVRDV, the awesome illustrations of Doug Alves, the alternative movie posters on Pinterest, funny and royalty free photo´s on Unsplash or the inspiring video´s on Vimeo? For as long as I can remember I have been collecting beautiful and cool things on my pin-up board so I have somewhere to go whenever I need some inspiration. While I was adding something new a few days ago, I thought to myself, ‘why not share it with the rest of the world?’. Someone once said: ‘A joy that’s shared is a joy made double’, and that is as true as can be, right? And who knows, maybe it isn’t just useful for me. Maybe I can inspire you too!

Okay, enough talk. It’s Friday afternoon. Get a beer, put ‘Hymn For The Weekend’ by Coldplay on, relax, lean back and scroll through this blog. Enjoy your weekend everybody!
