25 Free web designer killer tools

When you’re starting a design, the simplest tools are the best: good ol’ fashioned pen and paper. But once your initial design is completed you need some excellent technical tools to bring it to life. As a web designer, you work daily messing around with every aspect until your project matches the finished work in your head. Making the jump from paper to pixels can seem daunting. Here are 25 free web designer killer tools.

I use Photoshop and Illustrator daily. Originally, Photoshop was not a web designer tool. It is an image editing software made to correct, adjust, and manipulate images. There are two things to note when you use Photoshop as a web design tool. First, its interface is not the most user-friendly, and there is definitely a learning curve. Second, you need to learn how to use Photoshop as a web designer tool.

For prototyping complex user interfaces (UI), I use After Effect. It is a very handy method to show the idea to your client and communicate to the front end developer. Again, After Effect is not a native web designer tool. Those 3 are Adobe products. The nice thing about Adobe tools is that once you’ve mastered one, figuring out the others is a piece of cake, so it’s a pretty simple jump from Photoshop to Illustrator and After Effect.

But webdesign is more than just messing around with Adobe softwares. The modern web design is about web fonts, colour scheme, images, icons, buttons, semantic HTML , JS, CSS and usability. Thankfully, there is a seemingly-unlimited wealth of tools and toys out there, both online and offline. Some are simple tools you can use even on your browser. Let me share some great tools and discover what fits your needs.
